A fact from Robert Steuckers appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the Did you know column on 17 July 2023 (check views). The text of the entry was as follows:
Did you know... that the Belgian far-right activist Robert Steuckers is critical of the French New Right for their lack of proficiency in German?

... that Robert Steuckers is critical of the French New Right because he thinks its members are too bad at German? Source: "...he speaks proper German and in fact rightly reproaches the French new rightists, so fond of German references, for not being thoroughly acquainted with the language spoken across the Rhine or with the culture of Mitteleuropa." Hook is cited and in the article. I think it would probably sound quite contrarian to a lot of people at first glance given the history between France and Germany. No plagiarism or issues with neutrality. It was nominated on time.Llewee (talk) 13:03, 16 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I think this hook treats Steuckers and the French New Right as quirky weirdos, which maybe they are, but they're also terrible people. Maybe that's the fault of the DYK format rather than the nominator but I think it's worth saying. In terms of practical feedback, it would be useful to have some description of who Steuckers is--"Belgian far-right political activist Robert Steuckers is critical..." or something like that.Prezbo (talk) 12:18, 30 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
